Our History

Catalina Cartage began in 2016 as a one-truck, owner-operator company hauling intermodal containers out of the rail yards in Detroit. We have grown with the support of our customers, and the tireless efforts of all of Catalina’s employees, to become a trusted and honest partner in the transportation industry. Since our founding, Catalina Cartage has been striving to provide our customers with a personable experience. We have always and will continue to make our customers feel like friends and our drivers feel like family.

Our Management Team

Jon Biszalik

PRESIDENT
Born and raised in Detroit, Jon began his career in the trucking industry in 1989. After living outside of Nashville, Tennessee for a short time, Jon decided to return to Detroit to begin his own company in 1997. He has over three million miles under his belt and is still running the road beside the rest of Catalina’s driver core. Being a driver himself, Jon is always eager to talk with his drivers while they’re on the road. Through his leadership, Catalina Cartage has become a welcoming home for professional drivers that are looking to have a rewarding career without the constant stresses found in the big trucking companies.
Jesse McGrane

COO
After graduating from the University of Michigan in 2017, Jesse decided to change direction and begin a career in the trucking industry. He worked his way up to Vice President of a trailer sales and repair company before finding his way to Catalina Cartage. Jesse can be found in the Catalina Cartage offices working to expand the business’s partnerships, and helping the driver core with any maintenance and regulatory problems that emerge.
Johnnie Combs

LOGISTICS COORDINATOR
Johnnie has been in the transportation industry for almost 30 years - he began in 1994 as a night dispatcher for an LTL freight company. His career has taken him to some of the largest companies in Detroit, moving up through the industry’s management structure. Johnnie has seen the industry evolve and modernize over the last three decades, but one constant has been his desire to have a relationship with all of his driver core. Johnnie frequently jokes that his day-job is being a driver’s personal travel agent.
